The new trailer for Young Love previews Max’s upcoming animated series, a spin-off Hair Love that’s based on characters from the Oscar-winning short film.
The synopsis for Young Love reads: “Expanding on the Academy Award-winning short Hair Love, from creator Matthew A. Cherry and Sony Pictures Animation, Young Love gives an honest, heartfelt, and comedic glimpse into the lives of African American millennial parents Stephen Love and Angela Young as they experience the relatable ups and downs of modern life.”
It continues: “In remission following a battle with cancer, Angela struggles to balance her work as a stylist with the demands of parenthood, while Stephen attempts to carve out a career as a musician in an ultra-competitive industry. Along with their fearless daughter Zuri, this tight-knit Chicago family juggles careers, marriage, parenthood, social issues, and multi-generational dynamics while striving to make a better life for themselves.”

What Is Young Love’s Max Release Date?
The 12-episode series debuts with four episodes on Thursday, September 21. It will continue with four episodes weekly through the season finale on Thursday, October 5.
The cast includes Lorena Jorge as Angel, Toni Ricardo as Jasmine, Adriano Rivero as Robert, Mara Junot as Cynthia, Issa Rae as Angela Young, Kid Cudi as Stephen Young, Brooke Monroe as Zuri Young, Michael Samarie George as Corn Dogg, and more.
Young Love hails from Cherry and Carl Jones, who will both serve as showrunners. It will be executive produced by the film’s producer Blue Key Entertainment’s Monica A. Young along with Lion Forge Animation’s David Steward II and Carl Reed.
