Following NXT Battleground 2024, North American Champion Oba Femi has grabbed the attention of a prominent WWE SmackDown personality. Oba Femi has been making a name for himself on the black and gold brand since last year. 2024 began with Femi winning the NXT breakout tournament, and he went on to become the NXT North American Champion.
Since winning the championship, Oba Femi has dominated all his opponents who stood before him. He has become one of the most dominant NXT North American Champions in recent memory. At NXT Battleground in the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Femi faced a huge challenge.
Femi put his title on the line in a triple-threat match against Wes Lee and Joe Coffey. He defeated both competitors in an impressive match that caught the eye of a top WWE personality from SmackDown. Following his victory at NXT Battleground 2024, WWE commentator Corey Graves made a request. Graves tagged SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, requesting him to bring Oba Femi to the blue brand.
Ava Raine responds to Oba Femi’s WWE SmackDown interest
WWE NXT General Manager Ava Raine has set her sights on elevating the black and gold brand to the top. Raine, who is also the daughter of WWE legend The Rock, took the role of general manager in January.
Raine’s role was announced following The Rock’s announcement as a board member for the TKO Group Holding. Raine recently responded to Corey Graves’ tweet, expressing his desire for Nick Aldis to bring Oba Femi to SmackDown. Raine’s response added an interesting twist to Graves’ request.
It will be interesting to see Aldis’ thoughts on this matter. Aldis recently lost an upcoming rising star, Bron Breakker, to RAW during the WWE Draft. With Oba Femi making waves on the NXT roster, whether Aldis will consider Corey Graves’ request remains to be seen.
