The Passage is a new drama from FOX, adapted from the best-selling vampire novel of the same name by Justin Cronin. Let’s find out what this installment has in store, as we recap The Passage season 1 episode 1.
The Birth of a New Drug
A group of people, working for the CDC, were searching through a Bolivian forest for a mythical 250-year-old man and arrived at a cave were he was rumored to live. The group found the man in a cage and were warned by locals that he was a vampire. They mistakenly released him from the cage and the group was attacked. Almost all of them were turned into vampires themselves. The two leaders, Tim and Jonas believed that they had found a solution to their newest problem. They initiated Project Noah, recruiting death row prisoners to take an experimental drug that made them immune to all diseases. The project was forced into using a child to find the best formula for their drug.
Child Abduction Can Be Hard
The project eventually found their child subject, a young orphan named Amy. They sent two field agents to pick up Amy at her foster home. Amy realized that something was not right and managed to run away from the agents. She was eventually captured by the agents and they fled from the scene. Back at the lab, Jonas continued to observe the effects of the vampire conversion on Tim. The feeding procedure was initiated and the afflicted quickly gorged themselves on the buffet of blood. Back with Amy, the agents began to treat her kindly and even stopped off at a carnival they found on their trip. The lead agent, Brad, helped Amy win a giant stuffed unicorn at a game in the carnival. Brad decided to incapacitate his fellow agent and took Amy to freedom.
Controlling Dreams
Back at the lab, Brad’s defection was quickly reported and it was determined that he needed to be eliminated due to the information he possessed. Brad and Amy stopped at a very scenic lake in order for Amy to properly grieve her recently deceased mother. Amy broke down into tears when recalling the memories she had of her mother. During further examination of the patients, the scientists came to the conclusion that the vampires were able to control people’s dreams. After a nationwide manhunt for Brad was called, Brad decided to surrender himself to the local police officer. He did so, but the DoD found Brad at the police station and they quickly moved to kill Brad. He managed to fight them off and escaped with Amy. Two vans full of soldiers gave chase, and Brad forced Amy to fasten her seat belt before he pulled off a dangerous maneuver.
