Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures have announced that filming has officially begun in London for director Harry Bradbeer’s upcoming film adaptation of Enola Holmes featuring a star-studded cast led by Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, who will portray the titular role of of Sherlock Holmes’ much younger and equally intelligent sister. The young actress will also serve as a producer through her PCMA Management and Productions banner.

When her mother mysteriously disappears on her 16th birthday, Enola Holmes seeks help from her older brothers, Mycroft and the famous super-sleuth Sherlock. But soon realizing they’re less interested in solving the case than in packing her off to boarding school, Enola does the only thing a smart, resourceful and fearless young 1880s woman can do…she runs away to London. There, she begins her own remarkable crime-solving career, always keeping one step ahead of Sherlock.
Based on YA author Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes Mysteries novel series, the movie will also feature Academy Award-nominated actress Helena Bonham Carter (King’s Speech) as Enola Holmes’ enigmatic mother Eudoria, Henry Cavill (Justice League) as Sherlock Holmes, and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games) as the eldest of the Holmes siblings, Mycroft Holmes.
Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Adeel Akhtar (Murdered by My Father), Frances de la Tour (Into the Woods), Louis Partridge (Medici), Susan Wokoma (Chewing Gum) and Burn Gorman (Pacific Rim) have also been cast in the movie.

The film will be directed by BAFTA winner Harry Bradbeer with Jack Thorne set to pen the screenplay. It will be produced by Legendary’s Mary Parent and Alex Garcia along with Paige Brown of PCMA Management and Productions. Michael Dryer and Ali Mendes are set to executive produce the film.
The Edgar Award-nominated YA book series kicked off in 2006 with The Case of the Missing Marquess and spans six installments centering on Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes’ teenage sister as she strikes out as a capable detective.
