Variety is reporting that Legendary has acquired the rights to comedian Bert Kreischer’s viral story The Machine, with plans to develop a feature film. You can watch Kreischer’s video now in the player below!

In the comic’s stand-up special “The Machine,” the story follows Kreischer’s adventure as a seventh-year senior at Florida State University who was accidentally majoring in Russian. Kreischer says he became well known among Russian Mafia members while studying abroad and earned the nickname “the Machine” because of his incredible drinking prowess. Ultimately, his connections would catch up with him on a class trip where he was forced to become an accomplice in a train robbery.
Since launching in December 2016, Kresicher’s stand-up has generated over 85 million views on Facebook and YouTube. Kreischer and Judi Marmel will produce the movie.

Bert Kreischer: Secret Time, the comedian’s latest stand-up special, began streaming on Netflix in August 2018. In April, he launched his Body Shots international world tour to sold-out audiences. Kreischer also has a podcast, “The Bertcast,” and is the host and head chef on All Things Comedy’s digital series Something’s Burning. Kreischer’s life was previously the subject of a film, with his college exploits serving as the basis for National Lampoon’s Van Wilder starring Ryan Reynolds.
