Director Fede Alvarez (The Girl in the Spider’s Web) is set to helm a Washington, D.C. based horror film under a new overall deal with Legendary Pictures alongside Alvarez’s writing partner Rodolfo Sayagues, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Through their Bad Hombre Films banner, Alvarez and Sayagues will create, develop, and produce films, with the D.C. horror serving as the first project.

The untitled horror film is being described as The Shining set in The White House. Alvarez will likely direct the movie, which will be written by Joe Epstein.
The second project will be a horror remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and will be penned by Chris Thomas Devlin. The 1974 classic was co-written and directed by Tobe Hooper, with numerous sequels and reboots under the franchise’s belt.

“We are looking forward to sparking a new and meaningful relationship with a powerhouse like Legendary,” said Alvarez in a statement.
Alvarez and Sayagues’ previous projects include the 2013 remake Evil Dead and the 2016 horror hit Don’t Breathe.
