The Gentlemen (formerly titled Toff Guys) follows American ex-pat Mickey Pearson (McConaughey) who built a highly profitable marijuana empire in London. When the word gets out that he’s looking to cash out of the business forever, chaos ensues. It triggers plots, schemes, bribery, and blackmail in an attempt to steal his domain out from under him. Naturally, Ritchie’s signature visual cocktail spices up every scene. He also wrote the script himself with Marn Davies and Ivan Atkinson.
The film stars Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club), Hugh Grant (Four Wedding and a Funeral), Collin Farrell (Widows), Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey), Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim), Jeremy Strong (Succession) and Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes). The Gentlemen also features Lyne Renee, Chris Evangelou, Eugenia Kuzmina, and Jason Wong.
Ritchie is coming off from the massive blockbuster success of his live-action adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin which grossed more than $1 billion worldwide. His other notable film credits include Sherlock Holmes films, Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
The Gentlemen is set to hit shelves on Blu-ray and 4K UHD on April 21 and can be pre-ordered here!
