According to Deadline, Hulu has officially decided to renew Keith Knight’s comedy series Woke for an 8-episode second season. This renewal comes after over two months since the Lamorne Morris-led series had debuted its first season back in September to solid reviews from critics and audiences.

Woke follows the story of an African-American cartoonist living in San Francisco, who is finally on the verge of mainstream success when an unexpected incident changes everything. Keef must now navigate the new voices and ideas that confront and challenge him, all without setting aflame everything he’s already built.
“It would be wonderful,” Knight stated during the series’ panel at the virtual New York Comic-Con in October. “So everything that happened over the summer, we couldn’t address. So it would be amazing to get into what a post-summer 2020 world would look like and lean into the satire of that.”
The series is written and executive produced by cartoonist Keith Knight, who have based the story on his own personal experiences with racial profiling and showcases how black culture influenced his work. It also incorporates traditional live-action elements fused with animated sequences that will bring Keef’s cartoons to life in unique ways.

Woke is executive produced by Marshall Todd and John Will along with Olive Bridge Entertainment’s Will Gluck and Richie Schwartz. It is a production by Olive Bridge Entertainment and Cloud Nine Prods with Will Gluck, Eric Christian Olsen and Kate Schumaecher also executive producing.
The series debuted to very positive reviews from critics and audiences alike for its ensemble cast, namely lead Morris, and the surreal nature of much of its humor, while receiving some mixed reviews for its uncertain approach to its themes of racism in America.
