Momentum Pictures has released the official Port Authority trailer, which shows us what to expect from the trans romance drama starring Sports Illustrated model Leyna Bloom (Fluidity) and Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk). The Martin Scorsese executive-produced film will release later this month in theaters on May 28, 2021. However, fans won’t have to wait long to get it on demand and digitally as it will release on those platforms on June 1, 2021. The film is written and directed by Danielle Lessovitz (Mobile Homes).
As seen in the trailer, Whitehead plays a small-town Pennsylvania native that gets kicked out of his home and flees to New York City to start a new life. With no plan in his new city, Paul runs into a woman named Wye (played by Bloom) that he’s immediately attracted to. He later finds out that she’s a trans woman and a complicated romance begins.
The official Port Authority synopsis reads, “After getting kicked out of his home in central Pennsylvania, Paul (Fionn Whitehead) arrives to NYC’s dizzying central station with nowhere to go. A momentary encounter with Wye (Leyna Bloom), a trans woman of color, leads him to seek her out. Transfixed by her beauty and confidence, a love soon blossoms. But as the two learn more about each other, Paul’s false narratives begin to surface and the double life he lives must be reconciled.”
This is the first movie that Bloom starred in. The popular transgender model has made history by appearing on the cover of Vogue India and has worked with H&M, Moschino, Tommy Hilfiger and more. She’s set to appear in the 2021 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue as the first openly transgender Black and Asian-American model in the magazine.
