In just a couple of months, the action RPG sequel NEO: The World Ends With You will finally make its way to consoles. In anticipation of its release, Square Enix revealed the opening movie for the highly anticipated game.
The video begins with a build-up that gives us a look at the stylish world and characters of NEO: The World Ends With You. Once that build-up comes to a close, the sweet sounds of early 00’s inspired rap-rock come in blasting, as well as formally introducing the game’s main characters Rindo, Fret, and Nagi. We are also reintroduced to characters Sho Minamimoto and Koki Kariya.

The video shifts musical genres for a moment with its rock and jazz fusion mix, but quickly gets into some pretty hard metal in the closing moments of the video in which we see Rindo in a very fierce battle. The three main characters then walk away together with the video closing with the game’s title screen.
NEO: The World Ends With You is set three years after the original Nintendo DS Game, The World Ends With You. The upcoming game will see the return of Reapers’ Game and The Underground in which people who have died can come back to life. However, if you die, you are erased from existence. The main trio featured in the video is known as the Wicked Twisters Gang, and have a week to survive and win the game.
