Roadside Attractions has released the official Joe Bell trailer for Reinaldo Marcus Green’s upcoming biographical drama, centering around a true father-and-son story about acceptance and redemption. The film is scheduled to make its debut in theaters on Friday, July 23. Its current release date will see the Mark Wahlberg-led drama going up against three major competitors in the form of Paramount Pictures’ action G.I. Joe spinoff Snake Eyes, Universal Pictures’ M. Night Shyamalan-directed thriller Old, and Sony Animation’s final animated installment Hotel Transylvania: Transformania.
The video features Wahlberg’s Joe Bell walks across America to share awareness about the dangers of bullying, which caused the death of his son, who was tormented at school for being gay. It also highlights how Joe imagines his son accompanying him throughout the journey.
