A brand-new remastered Sam & Max game is coming, as publisher and developer Skunkape Games has announced that Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space Remastered will be launching on December 8, 2021, for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

The game — which saw its first episode launch in 2007 — will release on December 8, 2021. In a brief announcement alongside a trailer for the game, a list of new features were also announced, including better lighting, lip synching, cinematography, music, audio, optional driving mini-games, and subtitles for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. These changes were made to put this season more in line with modern standards, according to Skunkape.
“Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space is a remastered version of Telltale’s second season of episodic Sam & Max games, lovingly updated by a small team of the original developers,” reads a description for the game. “Sam is a six-foot canine detective with a nose for justice. Max is a hyperkinetic rabbity-thing with a taste for mayhem. Together, they’re the Freelance Police—an irreverent comedy duo whose esoteric crime-fighting style has been entertaining comic book and video game fans for more than thirty years.”

Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space Remastered joins a growing list of Sam & Max titles launching in 2021. Earlier this year, a remastered version of Sam & Max Save the World was released exclusively on Xbox, and a new virtual reality title, Sam & Max: This Time It’s Virtual, launched in July for the Oculus Quest.
