Henry Cavill has played a ton of roles throughout his career as an actor, but perhaps none are more famous than his portrayal of Superman in the DC Extended Universe. While it’s unknown if Cavill will ever don the cape again, Cavill did have a plan with how he wanted to approach the iconic superhero character.

In a video with GQ breaking down some of his more iconic roles, Cavill spoke about Superman and noted that what he wanted to do with the superhero was to explore the full journey of Superman, and it’s something that he still hopes to explore.
“I was very keen on really fleshing out Superman’s early stages of his journey first,” Cavill said.”We had Man of Steel, and then we went quite a bit darker with Batman v. Superman, and if he were to succumb to the Anti-Life Equation and become bad Superman, I really wanted to make sure that we saw the hero Superman, and we saw the true symbol of hope, the beacon of light, before we went down the path of darkness, and then redemption. It’s still something that I am very keen to flesh out.”
His last statement is bound to come as an optimistic note for some fans, as Cavill’s role as Superman has been up in the air for some time. Currently, no plans for future Superman films starring Cavill are planned, but the actor has been very open about his desire to continue playing the character. In the meantime, DC will move forward with other Superman-related projects, including the Val Zod series set to star Michael B. Jordan.
