The news came from the official HBO Twitter account, which shared the release date for the long-awaited third season. The hit HBO series was originally renewed for a third season way back in 2019, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting various productions across all of Hollywood, Barry was hit with major delays.
Barry stars Bill Hader, Henry Winkler, Anthony Carrigan, Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, and Sarah Burns, all of whom will be returning to the series for its third season. Not much in the way of footage has been shown for Barry‘s third season yet, but HBO did tease it in a recent compilation of its upcoming programming for 2022.
Barry‘s first two seasons were a smash hit for HBO, racking up 30 Emmy nominations and six total wins, with Bill Hader winning an Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series and Henry Winkler winning for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2019.

“Desperate to leave his violent past behind in favor of his newfound passion, Barry (Hader) is attempting to untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in acting,” reads the official synopsis for the upcoming third season. “But getting out is messy. While Barry has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren’t the only forces at play. What is it about his own psyche that led him to become a killer in the first place? Season three finds Barry and the other characters trying to make the right choice.”
