The film, which stars Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson, was originally set to release in theaters in 2020 but was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After setting a 2021 release date, the film was once again pushed back to August 12, 2022. However, with Netflix now acquiring the rights to the film, the feature will now launch exclusively on their streaming service later this year.
Joining Hart and Harrelson in the film are Kaley Cuoco, Jasmine Mathews, Ellen Barkin, Lela Loren, Pierson Fode, and Jencarlos Canela.
The Man from Toronto uses a case of mistaken identity as the film’s jumping-off point after the world’s deadliest assassin, known as the Man from Toronto (Harrelson) is mistaken for New York City screw-up (Hart) at an Airbnb rental. Patrick Hughes (Hitman’s Bodyguard, Red Hill) will direct the feature.
The script is written by Robbie Fox (Playing for Keeps) from a story by Fox and Jason Blumenthal (Masters of the Universe). Blumenthal will produce the project alongside his Escape Artists’ (The Upside) partners Todd Black and Steve Tisch.
