Babylon: Release Date Moved Up for Brad Pitt & Margot Robbie Epic

Damien Chazelle’s highly anticipated upcoming film Babylon has seen its release date shifted, with Variety reporting that the film will now open in theaters across the country on December 23, 2022.

The film was originally slated for a limited release on December 25, 2022, with a wider release set for January 6, 2023. Instead, the film will now open nationwide two days ahead of its original limited date, giving all fans the chance to see it a couple of weeks early during the holiday weekend.

Babylon is an original epic set in 1920s Los Angeles. The story takes place during the film industry’s major shift from silent films to talkies. “A tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood,” reads the synopsis.

The all-star cast includes Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Olivia Wilde, Tobey Maguire, Spike Jonze, Jean Smart, Samara Weaving, Max Minghella, Katherine Waterston, Flea, Phoebe Tonkin, Rory Scovel, Lukas Haas, Eric Roberts, P.J. Byrne, Damon Gupton, Diego Calva, Jovan Adepo, and Li Jun Li, with Li set as Anna May Wong.

Babylon is written and directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Damien Chazelle (La La Land, First Man). Producers are Olivia Hamilton, Matt Plouffe, and Marc Platt. It is executive produced by Tobey Maguire, Helen Estabrook, and Adam Siegel.
