Starring Park Ji-Hoon and Hong Ye-Ji, Love Song for Illusion episode 9 aired on KBS on Tuesday, January 30, 2023. The K-drama currently revolves around the lead characters’ battle against Hwang Hee’s Sajo Yung.
In the episode 8 ending, King Sajo Hyeong’s alter ego, Ak-Hee, lets the host return to his body for Kyera/Yeon Wol. Sajo Hyeong and Yeon Wol reunite, ending the episode with an emotional hug and a passionate kiss.
Following this, episode 9 begins with Yeon Wol informing the king about Sajo Yung’s schemes and women’s kidnapping issues in his kingdom. The two then part ways because she promised Ak-Hee that she would leave Sajo Hyeong if he let the king return to his body. Although she leaves, she vows to protect Sajo Hyeong and fight against Sajo Yung’s torment.

After Yeon Wol leaves, Hwang Hee’s Sajo Yung orders his guards to keep an eye on her. He wants to keep her alive and use her to lure Park Ji-Hoon’s character in the future. In Love Song for Illusion episode 9, she becomes aware of people following her. She meets Wind Knives’ members and makes Sajo Yung’s guards believe that she has cut ties with the rebel group.
Meanwhile, King Sajo Hyeong bashes the officials at the royal court for pressuring him to increase taxes. His behavior leaves them suspicious, and they begin to believe the rumor that an evil spirit has possessed him. On the other hand, the king secretly tries to solve the women trafficking issue in his kingdom. The Wind Knives send a note to him informing him that women who are kidnapped will be sold to the Jinhoi kingdom.
Sajo Hyeong manages to join forces with the defense minister and head minister to gather a team against Sajo Yung. On the other hand, the latter takes shaman Cheong-Ta hostage and demands she knows how to summon Ak-Hee and lock up Sajo Hyeong for good. Hwang Hee’s character wants to kill Sajo Hyeong and Yeon Wol. But Ak-Hee refuses to come out after Yeon Wol breaks his heart and chooses the king.
The second half of the episode shows that Sajo Yung’s men kidnap a few maids from the palace to sell them to Jinhoi. When Sajo Hyeong finds out, he gathers his troupe to save the women. While Park Ji-Hoon’s character and the Wild Knives members attack the place where the women are kept, Yeon Wol attacks Prince Ga Ron. The latter agrees to free those women if she becomes his woman.
Love Song for Illusion episode 9 ending: Is Hong Ye-Ji alive?
The ending of Love Song for Illusion episode 9 shows Sajo Hyeong and Wild Knives fighting Sajo Yung’s men to rescue the kidnapped women. Sajo Yung gets furious, and he attacks the place with fire arrows.
While the houses catch fire, the king continues to save the survivors. At the same time, Hong Ye-ji’s Yeon Wol returns to help Sajo Hyeong and others. She goes inside a chamber, and it catches fire. Sajo Hyeong tries to follow her but fails to save her. The ending shows him crying in agony near a stream.
He suddenly sees Yeon Wol sitting on a rock. Love Song for Illusion episode 9 ends with the couple’s reunion. While he looks relieved, she dons a sad face. It may be something related to Prince Ga Ron’s demand. Viewers will find out more in the next episode.
