In Queen of Divorce episode 1, Lee Ji-Ah’s Sa-Ra marries the chaebol heir of Chayul Law Firm for a successful career. She tolerates her mother-in-law’s taunts and neglects her for years but still doesn’t give up on impressing her. Sa-Ra wants her husband’s mother to accept her as the daughter-in-law.

Instead of accepting her, Chairwoman Cha Hui-Won frames Sa-Ra for fraud. She lures her son into the case and asks him to make up his mind to leave Sa-Ra and marry into a prestigious family. Hence, she first forces Sa-Ra to win an impossible case against a domestic abuse victim. When Ji-Ah’s character realizes that she is being used, she helps the victim named Son Jang-Mi (Kim Sun-Young).

To stop Sa-Ra from harming the company’s reputation, Hui-Won frames her in a fake divorce case. Sa-Ra’s husband, Noh Yul-Sung (Oh Min-Suk), supports his mother and lets the lead character take the fall. He later informs her that they will get a real divorce and that the custody of their son will go to him. Losing all hope in the world, Sa-Ra lives a helpless life in prison.
