Jujutsu Kaisen: What Is Ryomen Sukuna’s Original Form?

Jujutsu Kaisen has been in a very intense phase as the manga is focusing on the King of Curses at the moment. Audiences had a lot to take in the last few months and one of the peak fights in the series was Gojo vs. Sukuna. These two are absolutely powerhouses and a head-to-head battle was something fans weren’t ready for. Gojo dominated most of the fight, however, Sukuna eventually overpowered him and killed him which was another shock for the fans as Gojo was one of the most popular characters from Jujutsu Kaisen.

A few chapters later, we saw Kashimo entering the ring to fight Sukuna alone. He always wanted to test his abilities in front of the King of Curses. At the end of that chapter, we saw Sukuna returning to his original form, his peak self. Fans are quite excited to know about this version of him as it was teased from the start of the series.

Jujutsu Kaisen: What is the relevance of Sukuna’s original form?

Towards the end of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 237, Sukuna returned to his original form leaving fans exhilarated. Sukuna mentioned that he had a card up his sleeve a few chapters ago while fighting Gojo. However, fans didn’t expect this to be his trump card! If formidable sorcerers like Maki and Yuta jumped onto the battlefield to help Gojo, then Sukuna would have tapped into this power way earlier. However, the villain found his back against the wall so he finally decided to reveal his trump card.

The actual relevance of Sukuna’s true form can be explained by a popular fan theory floating in the community now. Sukuna is inspired by the mythical legend of Ryomen Sukuna, who happened to be a conjoined twin. This explains why he has four arms and four eyes. These twins were considered to be the omen of bad luck in the Jujutsu world.

The real legend follows the story of a man named Tengoku. He bought a conjoined twin home as he was fascinated by them. However, one of the twins ate the other. Sukuna has been depicted to be a cannibal in the series. The probability of him consuming his twin brother can also explain why his cursed energy reservoir is twice the size of Yuta.

What are the strengths of Sukuna’s original form?

With his true form back, fans are pretty confident that Gege Akutami will show why Sukuna was called the King of Curses. As mentioned earlier, his body has four arms and multiple eyes which will allow him to wield multiple cursed tools. Fans saw him using a cursed tool and we also know that he possesses a trident. Whether he has a cursed tool or not, Sukuna has gargantuan cursed energy. His reservoirs are filled as he reverts to his actual state. However, his cursed technique hasn’t been revealed yet.

Sukuna has never talked about his Cursed Technique in the series to this point so fans do not know what exactly it is. He can use Dismantle and Cleave but fans won’t be surprised to know that he can copy other powers. However, this is just a speculation. Sukuna is too overpowered and we got a subtle idea during his fight with Gojo. Even if Yuji, Maki, and Yuta were to combine their strengths, it still wouldn’t be enough.
