Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming documentary series Homicide: New York. The true-crime series, hailing from the Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, will arrive on the streamer on March 20.

Per the trailer, Homicide: New York — billed as a chilling true-crime documentary series — will feature five different stories of infamous cases told by a group of detectives and prosecutors as they revisit what they described as “their most challenging homicide cases.”

Per the official synopsis, Homicide is “a new docuseries that illuminates the stories of notorious murder cases as told by the people who know them best: the detectives and prosecutors who cracked them.”

Netflix also announced that the upcoming five-episode docuseries will be followed by Homicide: Los Angeles, which is set to premiere on the streaming service later this year. The follow-up show will also consist of five episodes, highlighting different murder cases.

Who are the creators of Homicide?

Homicide: New York is a collaboration project from Wolf Entertainment and Alfred Street Industries, with Wolf, Tom Thayer, Jane Lipsitz, Dan Cutforth, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe, and Adam Kassen serving as executive producers.

While Wolf is known for his popular procedural Law & Order — in which the episodes are inspired by some of the world’s most sensational crimes — Homicide marks the first time the successful television producer has delved into a true-crime story.

In addition to Law & Order, Wolf is also known for developing shows such as Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, and FBI: International. Law & Order has also spawned various spin-offs, including Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Organized Crime, and Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.
