What Happened to Jelly Roll? Weight Loss 2024 Journey Explored

Jelly Roll is a popular country singer whose life-inspired music managed to garner massive attention in recent years, making him a two-time Grammy Award nominee. Following some tumultuous teenage years, he managed to make a name for himself in the mainstream music scene while trying to improve his physical health. Recently, Jelly Roll has gone through massive weight loss. Here are all the details about his weight loss journey so far.

Jelly Roll Weight Loss Explained

Jason Bradley DeFord, aka Jelly Roll, has struggled with overweight issues for many years. In 2015, an “embarrassing” situation occurred in his life. The singer took to Instagram to reveal that he weighed over 500 pounds and even the doctor’s weighing machine couldn’t check his original weight. He soon realized he had to take care of his health issues, which led him to lose almost 200 pounds.

Unfortunately, in 2018, he spiraled back to excessive eating. As a result, he started to gain weight again.

While on his on-and-off journey of losing weight, he made a resolution in December 2022. He decided to step into the new year keeping his focus on “family and health.” Although he did lose a bit of weight, he was determined to continue his fitness journey in 2023, too. Keeping his resolution intact, he went to the gym, started meditating, and consumed a proper diet, Jelly Roll posted on X (formerly Twitter) in March 2023:

Speaking about his current health status in 2024, Jelly Roll has surprising news for the viewers, who have supported him throughout his weight loss journey. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he revealed that he lost 50-70 pounds throughout his training for his 5K race. He was “really emotional” about the fact that he was able to reach the finish line and felt quite motivated. He said, “I couldn’t walk a mile when I started trying to do this back in January. So the fact that we got three point whatever it was, got it down, I feel really, really good about it.” I left here feeling really motivated,” Roll added.

Although the 3.1-mile race was tough for him, he did it and overall felt “great.” According to him, the “coolest part” was how diverse people competed in the race and how motivating the event was.
