The ongoing Chinese drama The Princess Royal released episode 10 on June 28, 2024. As seen in the official trailer, it follows the story of Li Rong (Zhao Jinmai) and Pei Wenxuan (Zhang Linghe), who get a second chance at life after falling prey to each other’s schemes. In episode 9, the couple married each other for the second time. Episode 10 focuses on the couple forming an alliance.
In this episode, Li Chuan meets up with Qin Zhenzhen outside the princess’ palace. Li Chuan apologizes for not making time for her, as he was caught up with Li Rong’s wedding. He tells her how the battlefield was and has brought back a souvenir for her. It is quite evident that they are smitten with each other.
Meanwhile, Li Rong and Pei Wenxian get ready to spend their first night together. But Li Rong is tired and refuses to let her husband in on the bad. Wenxian thinks about asking a maid to bring him a separate quilt. But he soon drops the idea, as he doesn’t want to raise suspicion. Li Rong notices his discomfort and asks him to sleep on the bed.

Further in the episode, Li Rong asks Wenxian why he sent Su Rongqing to pick her up, despite knowing that he was the one who killed her. Her anger doubles when Wenxian innocently answers that he tried to please Li Rong.
After Li Rong sarcastically calls him a saint, Wenxian assures her that he has her best interest in mind. Even though her relationship with Ronqing ended in a catastrophe last time, he wants her to give it another shot. It is evident that she still cares about him, and he doesn’t want to come in between them.
He tells her that he met Su Rongqing before the wedding and can sense that he cares for her. Wenxian vouches for Rongqing’s sensibility and honesty. He urges the princess not to give up at such a young age.
Zhang Linghe & Zhao Jinmai promise to help each other
But the princess knows that being with Rongqing won’t be so easy. Even if she separates from Wenxian, the Su family won’t let Rongqing marry a divorced woman. Wenxian comes up with a four-step plan to reunite the princess and Rongqing.
Li Rong is amazed by Wenxian’s meticulousness. She offers to help him reunite with Qin Zhenzhen, as they are also separated by fate. When he refuses to take her help, she throws a tantrum. The two form an unofficial ally, and the princess offers him to be her best friend.
Meanwhile, the Empress wants Li Chuan to marry Shagguan Ya, as she promised his uncle, and make her the crown princess. But Chuan has someone else on his mind and urges his mother to delay the wedding. The Empress promises him that she will let him marry anyone he likes if he can make sure Ya becomes the crown princess.
Furthermore, Wenxian helps Li Rong know her family members. She knows that her mother wants to make Ya the crown princess and wants to know her opinion. Li Rong is astonished to know that Ya, known for being elegant and enjoying poetry and tea parties, is someone who frequents gambling houses.
What happens in The Princess Royal episode 10’s ending?
As Li Rong encounters Ya in the gambling house, waves of memories come back to her about how Shagguan Ya was so unhappy in her past life. She lived her life for the Shagguan family and always walked on thin ice.
Further in the episode, Li Rong comes to know that concubine Ruo has convinced the Emperor to host a party for Chuan to choose his wife. She worries that Ruo will use this opportunity to make Chuan marry her niece.
Wenxuan reveals to her how much Chuan cares for his sister, Li Rong. The only reason he united the nations in the north was because Li Rong was worried she would end up like Princess Yuayuan, who died in a foreign land.
