Amazon MGM Studios’ Jennifer Salke and Vernon Sanders have given an update as to what the future of The Boys franchise might look like.
The eighth and final episode of The Boys Season 4 is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video. It was previously confirmed that The Boys Season 5 will be the final season of the series, while Gen V Season 2 is also in the works.
Additionally, it was announced that another spin-off series, The Boys: Mexico, is being developed.
What are Amazon’s plans for The Boys franchise?
Speaking with Variety, Salke and Sanders were asked about Amazon Prime Video’s overall plans for the franchise now that The Boys is coming to an end.
“This is all about Eric Kripke’s vision and the shared vision he has with his incredible producing partners,” Sanders said. “And we’ve just been all in, and he’s over-delivered every time. Even getting to see dailies and material in for Season 2 of Gen V. Obviously, that crew had a real challenge with the unfortunate passing of Chance Perdomo. But I think fans of the entire franchise are going to be blown away by Season 2 of Gen V. In terms of the future, that’s really up to Eric. We’ve got lots of ideas and thoughts, and he’s got lots of ideas and thoughts, but we want to make sure that we earn all of it. So when we announce our next thing, if we announce the next thing, it’s going to be because we really know that we have the signals from our audience that this is a story they want to be told.”
Salke added, “We’re so excited about the show. And Eric, from the very start, has had a fountain of his big creative ideas around the franchise.”
The Boys Seasons 1-4 and Gen V Season 1 are currently streaming on Prime Video. Release dates for The Boys Season 5 and Gen V Season 2 have not yet been announced.
