Known as one of the founding members of the Grammy Award-winning group Public Enemy and his reality TV fame, the rapper, Flavor Flav, recently shared a troubling experience. He has drawn widespread public attention after posting and deleting a remark on social media about the Backstreet Boys dressing room at the Rockefeller Tree Lighting and the treatment he received there. And now, people want to know what he really posted.
So, what exactly happened between Flavor Flav, the Backstreet Boys, and NBC? Here’s everything you need to know.
Here’s what Flavor Flav said about Backstreet Boys
Flavor Flav took to X (formerly, Twitter) on Wednesday, December 4, and claimed that he was thrown out of the Backstreet Boys’ dressing room by the NBC security staff while attending the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting.
“I feel weird … I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting tonite [tonight] and I was escorted to see my boys … THE BACKSTREET BOYS … and we were backstage in their dressing room … security came up tp [to] me and says [said] @nbc does not want me in this area and I need to leave,” he wrote. The rapper also mentioned that a member of NBC’s social media team approached him and asked him to “capture social content.”
“What did I ever do to NBC or anyone??” he continued in the same post, adding “All I ever do is try to spread joy and love … and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics.”
As mentioned above, Flavor Flav has since deleted the post. However, he referred to it in a different post, “I deleted the tweet … but my spirit is broken.” When one of the other users asked if the members of the Backstreet Boys spoke up for him, Flavor Flav confirmed that they “sure did.”
Notably, the Backstreet Boys participated in the tree lighting ceremony at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan. The event was hosted by Kelly Clarkson and broadcast live on NBC.
