The Rock returned to the ring earlier this year at WWE WrestleMania 40 after a long hiatus. On the January 1st “Day One” edition of RAW this year, he teased a potential match with Roman Reigns, sparking excitement among fans.
A month later, Cody Rhodes, who had won the Men’s Royal Rumble, was scheduled to challenge Reigns at WrestleMania 40. However, in a shocking turn of events, Rhodes stepped aside to allow The Rock to face Reigns.
While fans were eager to see Reigns vs. The Rock, the storyline created controversy. Rhodes had earned his title shot but relinquished it for The Rock. This sparked backlash and launched the #WeWantCody movement in support of Rhodes.
Amid the backlash, The Great One surprised fans by turning heel and siding with Roman Reigns. This led to Cody Rhodes finding an ally in Seth Rollins, leading to The Rock and Reigns challenging Rhodes and Rollins to a tag team match at WWE WrestleMania 40.
The Rock, who had last competed at WrestleMania 29 in a losing effort against John Cena, had not wrestled in years despite making sporadic WWE appearances. Many believed he had retired from the ring. At WrestleMania 40, The Rock and Reigns faced Rhodes and Rollins in a high-stakes tag team match.
The Rock secured the win for his team by delivering a decisive Rock Bottom to Rhodes. Recently, The Final Boss revealed details about the intense training regimen he followed to prepare for his triumphant return to in-ring competition.

So, I went [to] training camp for WrestleMania, which was about an eight- to nine-week training camp. It’s really fast, and fortunately, I was able to get through it all.”
Following his in-ring return, WWE hinted at another potential match for The Great One, this time against Cody Rhodes. Amidst the buildup for a match with Rhodes, fans are also eagerly anticipating a future showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns, hoping it will eventually come to fruition.
