Avatar: Fire & Ash has introduced a villainous tribe, the Tlalim Clan, also known as the Wind Traders, to its growing roster. The upcoming installment will focus on the Sully family, continuing their determination to save Pandora from perilous human invaders. Along the way, they will come face-to-face with these new creatures, diving deeper into their histories and motives. Recently, director James Cameron explained the clan’s role in the latest movie. So, here are the details.
Avatar 3: Fire and Ash’s Wind Traders of Wind Tribe, aka Tlalim Clan, explained
The Tlalim Clan, aka the Wind Traders, is a nomadic Na’vi group spearheaded by Peylak. For easy mobility in the air, they leverage Pandoran creatures like Medusoids and Windrays.
Recently, Cameron sat down with Empire to discuss the Wind Traders, a new addition to the Avatar 3 roster. He spoke about this unique clan’s characteristics and their appealing Pandoran rides across the air.
He said, “They’re nomadic traders, equivalent to the camel caravans of the Spice Road back in the Middle Ages. And you know, they’re just fun. Like all Na’vi, they live in symbiosis with their creatures. If you’ve got any nautical blood in your veins, you’ll want to be on [their] ship.” Empire has also dropped a few images of the Wind Traders, which appear to guarantee a great visual experience for all fans.
While the clan appears to be an exciting addition, not much is known about their origins and workings, opening doors for the upcoming film to explore them further. The only known detail about them is that the clan might use sätare beads as currency. This currency is used among the Na’vi, and Kukulope has been seen using it. However, it remains unclear whether the entire clan commonly uses this currency or if it is just her personal preference.
Viewers might also get to explore more of Pandora’s locations, given that this clan isn’t settled in one place but frequently travels on its creatures. It would be great to see how they are introduced in the latest installment and how they contribute to the story.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to arrive in theaters on December 19, 2025.
