Ever since popular CBS shows faced cancellation risks, The Neighborhood fans were left wondering whether their favorite show would be renewed or canceled. CBS has officially announced that The Neighborhood will return for Season 8, which will also serve as the show’s final season.
Here are the full details about the renewal, finale, and spinoff plans.
Has CBS canceled or renewed The Neighborhood Season 8?
After months of uncertainty, CBS has renewed The Neighborhood for Season 8, which will air during the 2025–26 TV season and serve as the series’ final installment.
Cedric the Entertainer stars in and executive produces the show, which CBS notably left off its early renewal list—prompting concern among fans. Unlike recently canceled CBS series like FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, and S.W.A.T., CBS Studios produces The Neighborhood, giving it a strategic edge in renewal discussions.
CBS based its renewal decision on budget factors. As a long-running sitcom with a high-profile cast, The Neighborhood carried high production costs. After finalizing new deals with the actors, CBS approved an eighth season to properly wrap up the story.
The production team already filmed the Season 7 finale, which serves as a backdoor pilot for a proposed spinoff featuring Marty and Malcolm’s move to Venice. With Season 8 confirmed, the show will now offer a more complete conclusion for the rest of the characters.
It remains unclear whether CBS will pick up the proposed spinoff at this time. If it does, The Neighborhood may help launch the new series in its final season. The show has already inspired Crutch, an upcoming Paramount+ comedy starring Tracy Morgan, currently in development.
Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment, said, “The brilliant cast and creative team… have brought levity, laughter and poignant storylines to Monday nights for seven incredible seasons” (via Deadline).
