Days of Our Lives’ Leo Howard Opens up About Tate & Doug’s Rivalry

Days of Our Lives has really accentuated the drama between Tate and Holly recently, thanks to the entry of Doug Williams III, played by Peyton Meyer. Now, the star-crossed lovers seem further apart than ever before. While fans remain upset over this, so is Leo Howard, who plays the character of Tate on the show. The actor recently gave his take on the dynamic between Doug and Tate, calling his presence “threatening.”

Leo Howard says Tate feels ‘uncomfortable’ to see Doug with Holly on Days of Our Lives

Tate and Holly‘s path was always filled with obstacles, but things got even more complicated after the entry of Doug. He came into the picture recently, but quickly got smitten with Holly and is now threatening to permanently derail whatever Tate had with her.

“I always love when they bring new people in. It’s fun. It keeps things new, and there’s always different dynamics working with different people. So I welcomed it as an actor. It’s been a fun challenge to approach,” said Leo Howard in a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, describing Meyer’s entry into the series.

But his character, Tate, did not welcome Doug with the same enthusiasm. Instead, Tate was rather “uncomfortable” seeing Doug around Holly. “When you’re feeling something for a partner or someone that you’re close to, [Doug’s presence] feels really threatening. Tate is being stretched way too thin, and it kind of explains his behavior toward Doug, confronting him and all that stuff. It’s really uncomfortable for him [to see Doug with Holly],” Howard stated.

He continued, “Tate just feels stuck. I think people who have been in this position can relate to it. Tate’s got to do what he’s got to do – take care of Sophia, take care of this baby, and figure this situation out. He’s also trying to fix things with Holly, and deep down, he really wants that to work. So it’s a very confusing place to be in, and Doug just makes it so much worse.”

So, it seems that till Doug is around, Tate and Holly’s relationship will have yet another hurdle to overcome. But if they eventually get together in the future, it might all be worth the wait.
