Screenwriting team Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont will pen Sisters of Mercy for Columbia Pictures and Overbrook Entertainment, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The project, which is being developed as a possible starring vehicle for Will Smith, centers on a widower father who is rescued after his wife’s death by members of her book club who soon begin running his life with advice on parenting and dating.
Smith and James Lassiter are producing for Overbrook alongside Alex Siskin.
Kaplan and Elfont have Made of Honor, starring Patrick Dempsey, shooting for Neal Moritz and Columbia and are working on Bachelorette for Universal. The duo also wrote and directed Can’t Hardly Wait.
