Eddie Redmayne talks about meeting J.K. Rowling and his Fantastic Beasts director David Yates
While excitement is still slightly muted for next year’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which will be J.K. Rowling’s return to cinemas for the first time since the conclusion of the multi-billion dollar “Harry Potter” saga in 2011, one expects that people will get more excited about it once footage starts emerging.
Directed by David Yates, who directed the last four “Harry Potter” movies, the spin-off prequel (of sorts) has been in production since August and still has a few more months of filming to go, but Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne is playing the film’s lead Newt Scamander, a “magizoologist” who travels to New York to look for magical creatures.
Earlier today, ComingSoon.net spoke to Redmayne for his upcoming film The Danish Girl, in which he plays Danish painter Einar Wegener who became the first person to undergo gender confirmation surgery as the inspirational Lili Elbe, and he spoke to us briefly about coming Fantastic Beasts.
“He’s wonderful,” Redmayne said glowingly about director David Yates, who directed the second half of the “Harry Potter” films. “Even though there’s a scale to these films that could be intimidating, he has such a kindness but an absolutely brilliant that it feels very intimate, and he’s got such a wonderful, eclectic cast. Hopefully, it will be good.”
Redmayne took a break from the movie to do the junket for The Danish Girl in London, but he’s back to Liverpool this week to presumably do some location shooting.
