Horror prequel eyeing April start
Ghost House Pictures may have found their man to direct The Messengers 2, a prequel to last year’s Super Bowl weekend box office topper starring Kristen Stewart, John Corbett, Dylan McDermott and Penelope Ann Miller.
Sources inform Shock Danish helmer Martin Barnewitz is the leading contender. Lensing will begin this April in Bulgaria. The film revolves around John Rollins (Corbett’s character), who struggles to save his farm and hold his family together. After placing a mysterious scarecrow in his field his luck seems to change for the better, but in return may cost his sanity.
Barnewitz directed the dormitory ghost yarn Room 205 (aka Kollegeit) which made its U.S. bow at the L.A. Screamfest last October.
