Rights to M. William Phelps' book, The Devil's Rooming House, has been picked up by A7SLE Films, reports Dead. The company is operated by actor Peter Facinelli (of the Twilight series, Can't Hardly Wait).
According to the book's publisher, The Devil’s Rooming House is "the first book about the life, times, and crimes of America’s most prolific female serial killer. In telling this fascinating story, M. William Phelps also paints a vivid portrait of early-twentieth-century New England."
That serial killer is Amy Archer-Gilligan, a woman who ran a nursing home and would use arsenic to kill its residents. Her actions loosely inspired the film Arsenic & Old Lace.
