Director Adam Gierasch Talks About His Dark Thriller Fractured

It’s the latest film from director Adam Gierasch (working from a script he penned with Jace Anderson) and it stars Vinnie Jones, Callum Blue, Ashlynn Yennie and Nicole LaLiberte.

Blue plays Dylan White, a cook in Baton Rouge with a normal, boring life. Then horrifying visions start to interrupt his waking moments, and he must face the fact that he literally doesn’t know who he is. Following clues that take him to the dark underbelly of New Orleans, Dylan soon finds both his life and soul in danger.

“It’s a dark noir, is what it is. It’s about bad people doing bad things and guilt and redemption,” explains Gierasch, who previously helmed Autopsy and the Night of the Demons remake. “After the other films, this is the one where I got to let my freak flag fly.”

The script was penned pre-Night of the Demons and came out of an incident in which he felt panic meeting his in-laws and convinced wife, Anderson, to avoid the plane ride and just get back in the car to go home. “I said, that was really awful what I just did, am I damned for that? That was horrible what just did to her. And that question: Am I damned for tricky my wife into not getting on the plane? That question kept buzzing through my head and she said, what if you did something really bad? And that’s where Fractured came from.”

The original story was initially called Seasons in the Abyss, but when the film moved into production, it carried the moniker Schism before it was retitled to Fractured for its release.

On the film’s unflinching look at gore, violence and nudity, Gierasch says: “I just wanted the film to be real looking. Some of it’s going to be cartoon-y looking. What happens to Nicole – it’s going to be hard to watch. It’s why I brought in the August Underground guys to do the FX. I wanted that vibe. And as far as the nudity goes, I just wanted it to be consistent with the characters. When people have sex, they don’t leave their bras on. All the actors were on board.”

Fractured is out now in select theaters and on VOD. Check out the trailer below!
