Nina is dead, but certainly not gone. In what looks to be a strange, sinewy piece of work, SXSW Visions entry Nina Forever finds a dead girlfriend still living between the sheets, and making herself known when her former significant other attempts to move on.
In Nina Forever, Holly (Abigail Hardinham) begins a relationship with her co-worker Rob (Cian Barry), whos grieving over the recent death of his girlfriend Nina (Fiona OShaughnessy, Utopia). Holly has fallen for Rob and is determined to help him though his grief. Yet every time they make love, Nina appears; tangled, bloody and still fixated on Rob. Holly doesn’t freak out and runshe can deal with the dead girl sharing their bed, their lives, their minds. If it’s what Rob needs, it’s what she’ll do, regardless of what the consequences may be.
Oh boy.
Written and directed by Chris Blaine and Ben Blaine, Nina Forever, which boasts a captivating preview, premieres Saturday, March 14 at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar as part of SXSW. Expect more on the film, soon.
