Ben Wheatley and Tom Hiddleston Eye Hard Boiled Movie

A Hard Boiled movie is on the way with the High-Rise pair of director Ben Wheatley and star Tom Hiddleston

A new comic book adaptation is in the works that looks like it might reteam High-Rise director Ben Wheatley and leading man Tom Hiddleston. Deadline reports that a Hard Boiled movie is set up at Warner Bros. that will adapt the Frank Miller and Geoff Darrow title. Wheatley and Hiddleston are said to be in talks at the studio.

A three-issue miniseries, Hard Boiled was published by Dark Horse in 1993 and is described as follows:

Carl Seltz is a suburban insurance investigator, a loving husband, and devoted father. Nixon is a berserk, homicidal tax collector racking up mind-boggling body counts in a diseased urban slaughterhouse. Unit Four is the ultimate robot killing machine — and the last hope of the future’s enslaved mechanical servants. And they’re all the same psychotic entity.

Hiddleston is no stranger to comic book adaptations. Next year will mark the star’s fourth big-screen appearance as Marvel Studios‘ Loki when Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017. Before that, though, Hiddleston will set sail for Skull Island as part of the ensemble cast of Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ King Kong reboot.

Wheatley, meanwhile, is gearing up to release his latest, Free Fire. A24 is scheduled to release the crime thriller in theaters on March 17, 2017.

The Hard Boiled movie is being developed by Hollywood Gang and Solipsist Films, the companies behind Miller adaptations 300 and Sin City, respectively. Bernie Goldmann, Stephen L’Heureux, and Gianni Nunnari will produce.
