Focus Features nabs the rights to the Diablo Cody-penned Tully starring Charlize Theron
Focus Features has debuted the first trailer for Tully, a new comedy from Academy Award-nominated director Jason Reitman (Up in the Air) and Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno).
In the film, Marlo (Academy Award winner Charlize Theron), a mother of three including a newborn, is gifted a night nanny by her brother (Mark Duplass). Hesitant to the extravagance at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully (Mackenzie Davis). Ron Livingston also stars.
Tully is produced by Bron Studios’ Aaron L. Gilbert; Reitman and Helen Estabrook through their Right of Way Productions; Cody and Mason Novick; and Theron, A.J. Dix and Beth Kono through Denver & Delilah Productions.
The film marks a reunion for Reitman, Estabrook, Cody, Novick and Theron, who previously collaborated on Young Adult, for which Theron was a Golden Globe Award nominee. Cody and Reitman also collaborated on Juno, for which Cody won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
Tully will open in theaters on April 20.
