Focus Features just announced that Pope Francis – A Man of His Word will be showing in the theaters across the United States on May 18, 2018. The documentary feature is a close look into the work of the Pope, as he answers questions sent by people from all over the globe. It is written and directed by three-time Academy Award nominee Wim Wenders (Buena Vista Social Club, The Salt of the Earth) in a rare co-production with the Vatican.
Pope Francis – A Man of His Word is not an autobiography, but instead is an intimate, in-depth dialogue with Pope Francis regarding his work as the global ambassador of the Catholic faith and a leader in social justice. The documentary has the Pope tackling issues of poverty, immigration, ecology and morality through a “symphony of questions” and his travels all over the world.
Pope Francis – A Man of His Word is produced by Wim Wenders with Samanta Gandolfi Branca, Alessandro Lo Monaco (The World’s Smallest Army), Andrea Gambetta and David Rosier (The Salt of the Earth). The film is a production of Célestes Images, Centro Televisivo Vaticano, Solares Fondazione delle Arti, PTS Art’s Factory, Neue Road Movies, Fondazione Solares Suisse, and Decia Films.
Remember to come along in this personal journey with the Pope when Pope Francis – A Man of His Word comes out in theaters on May 18, 2018.
