Overlord IV Episode 8 Recap
Prince Zanac and Princess Renner discuss the Sorcerer Kingdom. Renner suggests they become a vassal state, but Zanac thinks they need to control their nobles for that. Meanwhile, Baron Philip talks to Baron Delvi and Baron Rokerlen at a pub. After finding out Philip still keeps in touch with Albedo, Delvi shares information on the Sorcerer Kingdom. He learns the Sorcerer Kingdom uses the undead to farm food in large amounts. Furthermore, they send these food supplies to the Theocracy as aid. Philip gets mad since this will affect the food being planted on his land.
Meanwhile, Albedo calls for a meeting after learning there were problems during the transportation of food to the Theocracy. She reports that Philip stole the food sent to the Theocracy. Albedo brings Hilma as the witness, who swears she was not involved in the robbery. After Ainz interrogates Hilma, he declares her innocence. Ainz decides to blame himself for the incident, and Hilma pledges her devotion to Ainz. Due to the incident, Ainz, Albedo, and the floor guardians discuss Operation Carrot and Stick in greater detail.
They were supposed to use Philip to trigger a civil war so that the Sorcerer Kingdom could absorb the citizens peacefully. However, Philip went against the Sorcerer Kingdom instead. The floor guardians suggest they should kill the culprits as punishment. But Demiurge remembers something Ainz said about the negative effects of ruling with violence. Ainz asks Demiurge if their plan has failed, and Demiurge misinterprets Ainz. Demiurge believes Ainz was taking the “carrot and stick” plan to an international level.
During the royal court meeting, Zanac reads the letter from the Sorcerer Kingdom, which the other kingdoms and creatures under Ainz also signed. Zanac suggests they use Philip’s head to negotiate with the Sorcerer Kingdom. However, the king disagrees with sacrificing someone’s life. Zanac emphasizes how they shouldn’t go against the Sorcerer Kingdom. One minister suggests they become a vassal state, but the king declines. Upon Albedo’s arrival, the king shockingly offers his head for forgiveness.
