Blue Lock Episode 3 Recap

Ego explains that only the top two teams will move forward. Although, top scorers from the losing teams will also move forward. Ego says it is a matter of “creating soccer from zero.” Team Z’s first game is with Team X. Before the game, Isagi wonders what Ego meant about “creating soccer from zero.” The game begins, and Raichi takes the ball from Isagi before he makes a move. Raichi says he just cares about being the top scorer. Kunigami then steals the ball from Raichi, expressing the same sentiments. Eventually, everyone starts fighting each other for the ball, aiming to score.

Barou takes the ball and scores a goal. His teammates praise him while Team Z continues to argue. Isagi plans to pass to Bachira, but Igaguri intervenes. Team Z continues to fall apart, while Team X is starting to become a team. Team X scores another goal, and Isagi noticed Team X began working together because of Barou. He then remembers Ego’s words and thinks about how they can get from “zero” to “one.” By the near end of the game, Team X has five points.

Bachira suggests a strategy to Isagi. Isagi thinks they can get to “one” if someone scores, then their teamwork might improve. Bachira passes to Isagi, but Barou blocks him. Isagi meant to score but ends up passing to Kunigami, who then scores a goal. Raichi scolds Isagi for passing to Kunigami instead of him. The game ends, and Team X wins. In the locker room, Isagi contemplates what he’s lacking as a striker. Meanwhile, Kuon explains to the team that they’re already in danger.

Chigiri notes that Ego might’ve been hinting at something with “creating soccer from zero.” Isagi shares his thoughts, and Ego appears on screen, agreeing with him. Ego gives them a hint about turning “zero into one” by explaining roles in sports. He then asks what they will do to destroy the other team. With this, he says victory is in their hands once they find out how to use their skills to score.
