Anime inspires Hollywood now and then. The media is growing at a massive rate, and publisher Kodansha Comics has found a way overseas. The company has decided to adapt Boichi’s manga, Origin, into a live-action Hollywood film in collaboration with Majestic Limited.
This announcement was made recently as Majestic Limited confirmed the deal. The company is going to work on a feature film adaptation of Origin. As for the cast that has been revealed so far, we know that the project will be directed by Josh Boone, Danny Chan, and Darius Shahmir. This trio has previously worked on popular projects like The Fault in Our Stars as well as Barbarian. And now, the team is ready to tackle manga.

Majestic’s founder, Josh Boon, will be directing the film. The co-founder of Majestic Limited, Darius Shahmir, said to Variety, “We are extremely proud to be working with Kodansha and Boichi on Origin. This project will redefine the boundaries of manga and entertainment while delivering an unforgettable experience to fans worldwide. We believe this collaboration will leave an indelible mark on the industry and allow new ancillary avenues to open up along the way.”
Several people might not be aware of the Origin. The manga was released in the United States in late November under Kodansha. The Mangaka of this manga series is Boichi, whose real name is Mu-jik Park. He started this journey in September 2016 and continued it for three years.
The premise of Origin revolves around a futuristic society where humanity has embraced robotic technology. However, with this technological advancement came an existential crisis for humanity. Origin asks what it means to be human, as everything from self-identity to conscience is explored.
This manga series might not be massively popular in the US, but there is no denying that Boichi is a big name in manga. His genius is responsible for creating Dr Stone, a massive hit worldwide.
