A new Pokémon special is set to make its way out to fans later this year, as Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles will premiere on Netflix on September 23, 2022.

The four-episode special, which was originally released in Japan under the name Pokémon Journeys: The Series, will be making its way stateside and tells the story of Ash Ketchum as he goes on the hunt for the mythical Pokémon Arceus.

As noted in the trailer, a variety of familiar faces from the Pokémon franchise will appear in Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles, including Brock, Nurse Joy, and more.

“When Ash, Pikachu, and friends receive a mysterious message from the Mythical Pokémon Arceus, they meet up with their old friend Brock and head to Mount Coronet to investigate,” reads the official synopsis for the special. “There, they find a rampaging Heatran and the group responsible — Team Galactic, previously thought to be dismantled. The team’s commanders are determined to find their missing leader by opening a gate between dimensions. With a trio of Legendary Pokémon and Sinnoh Champion Cynthia on their side, our heroes have a lot of help, but they’ll need all they can get to save Sinnoh!”
