Celine Dion’s Children: Who Are the Singer’s Kids With Late Husband?

Celine Dion has talked about her three children with her late husband, René Angélil, ahead of the premiere of her documentary, I Am: Celine Dion. The upcoming documentary chronicles her struggle with stiff person syndrome and focuses on the singer’s life-changing diagnosis. It premieres on June 25, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video.

Reportedly, Celine Dion and her husband, René Angélil, welcomed three children before the latter’s 2016 death from throat cancer. Their kids include elder son René-Charles and twins Nelson and Eddy, who have supported the singer throughout her journey as a single mother. Celine Dion also discussed her kids’ unconditional support in several interviews before the documentary premiere.

Prime Video previously dropped a trailer for the I Am: Celine Dion documentary, featuring one-on-one interviews with the singer. The trailer comprises archival footage and behind-the-scene videos from Dion’s concerts. It also consists of emotional clips of her talking about her health struggles and the stiff person syndrome diagnosis.

How old are Celine Dion’s children now?

People Magazine reported that Celine Dion has three children: René-Charles, Nelson, and Eddy. René-Charles, now 23, was born on January 25, 2001, and is the eldest of her sons. They named him after his father, René Angélil. Dion called him their “miracle child” and revealed how much she loved being a mom to him.

René-Charles grew up to follow his parents’ footsteps in the music industry and dropped two hits on SoundCloud in May 2018. Nearly three years later, in January 2021, he released his EP Casino.5 and attended the 2024 Grammys alongside Dion after her stiff person diagnosis.

The outlet stated that Celine Dion, whose children have always been her focus, became pregnant with twins in 2010. She made the “ecstatic” announcement after going through six rounds of IVF and one miscarriage. Dion and her husband, René Angélil, welcomed the fraternal twins in October of that year. Their kids, Eddy and Nelson, are now 13.

Dion and Angélil named their twins after producer Eddy Marnay and former South African President Nelson Mandela. Marney was responsible for producing the singer’s first five albums and “was like a father to her.” Her rep claimed, “Celine Dion and René want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men.” Dion reportedly met Mandela once while touring.

Celine Dion’s children have also been a crucial part of her journey as she battles stiff person syndrome. The documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, premieres on June 25, 2024.
