Ready Player Two marks the second of Cline’s bibliography in which Wheaton has narrated, having previously lent his voice to the 2015 sci-fi novel Armada. The latest book from the iconic author is set to hit shelves and audio platforms on November 24.
The original novel made its debut back in 2011 and was an instant hit, reaching No. 1 and spending more than 100 weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list. The 2018 film adaptation grossed $582 million worldwide, which made it Spielberg’s highest-grossing film since 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Here’s to hoping Spielberg comes back for the sequel.

Ready Player One drew criticism for its over-reliance on pop cultural references, but that’s also what gave the book much of its charm. In a lot of ways, it served as the precursor for Stranger Things and films such as Stephen King’s IT; and is an absolute must read for gamers.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: In the year 2045, the real world is a harsh place. The only time Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) truly feels alive is when he escapes to the OASIS, an immersive virtual universe where most of humanity spend their days. In the OASIS, you can go anywhere, do anything, be anyone—the only limits are your own imagination. The OASIS was created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance), who left his immense fortune and total control of the OASIS to the winner of a three-part contest he designed to find a worthy heir. When Wade conquers the first challenge of the reality-bending treasure hunt, he and his friends—known as the High Five—are hurled into a fantastical universe of discovery and danger to save the OASIS and their world.
