Marvel’s Avengers hasn’t had a new playable hero since Spider-Man’s inclusion in November 2021. And it’s been even longer for users on other platforms since the web slinger was only on PlayStation systems. After months of waiting, Crystal Dynamics has announced who the next hero will be: Jane Foster, who is also known as Lady Thor.
Crystal Dynamics revealed this in a new development update on its website speaking to the game’s future. While it began with some news on upcoming reworks and changes, the studio ended by mentioning that Foster will be coming down the line on all platforms. The studio didn’t give more concrete details, but did say that while she will have a lot in common with Thor, she “will also have elements that are distinctly Jane.” This seems similar to its approach with Hawkeye and Kate Bishop, who are both in the game and have similar abilities.

But Thor and Lady Thor and Hawkeye and Kate Bishop are allegedly not the only duos the game has in store. She-Hulk was reportedly in development and slated to be the next hero. Leakers claimed she was coming and the fact that alleged She-Hulk actor Krizia Bajos deleted her tweets about the game seemed to corroborate those leaks. However, those same leakers are now stating that Crystal Dynamics did originally want She-Hulk to come to game earlier, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made the team change plans.
This theory would explain the game’s lack of new content and also coincide with the recently released Thor: Love and Thunder trailer that only came out one day before this announcement. The She-Hulk Disney+ show is also not slated to air until later in 2022 and after Love and Thunder. Streamer mmmmmmmmiller, who broke the She-Hulk news, did also state in March that Jane Foster was on the way, which pre-dates the official announcement and means he wasn’t forced to backpedal after in response to it.
