Illfonic isn’t making the only Ghostbusters game this year. Developer nDreams announced that it is also making a game in the coveted franchise, but its version will be a virtual reality game with the working title of Ghostbusters VR. It’s coming out on the Meta Quest 2 at some undisclosed point in the future.
The trailer doesn’t have any gameplay, but it does show that players will be equipping themselves with the typical array of Ghostbuster gear and hunting said ghosts along with a few of their friends, as its campaign is playable in co-op. It will take place in San Francisco and have “a deep mystery across a new chapter in the Ghostbusters universe.” More will be revealed in “the coming months.” nDreams is known for quite a few VR projects, including Phantom: Covert Ops and Fracked, both of which were received relatively well. nDreams Chief Development Officer Tomas Gillo spoke about this newest project.
“With SPVR, we’ve found the perfect teammates to help bring a boundary-pushing multiplayer game to virtual reality,” said Gillo. “In addition, our close collaboration with the creators of the Ghostbusters franchise at Ghost Corps, combined with our extensive experience creating rich, tactile and immersive VR will blow gamers and Ghostbusters fans away.”
