A Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order sequel has already been officially announced, but details about it are almost nonexistent. A new report has a little more to share about the game regarding the platforms it is on and its supposed release window.
As transcribed by Video Games Chronicle, GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb talked about the Star Wars game on his weekly Giant Bomb show, Grubbsnax. He stated that the game has dropped most of its subtitle and will be called Star Wars: Jedi 2 (however, there’s probably the possibility of it adopting a separate subtitle, as well). Grubb then went on to state that it is only coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC — meaning it is for current-gen hardware only — and slated for sometime in 2023.

Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier had stated that it could come out in 2022 or 2023, so this report pointing to 2023 means that is likely its release window. Grubb also said a 2022 date was targeted, though. However, other reports haven’t alleged that it would be a current-gen exclusive, a factor it also shares with the upcoming Dead Space remake. Grubb talked about how that is probably linked to how it isn’t coming this year and that it “has some upsides” since the team doesn’t have to “worry about trying to straddle these generation lines.”
“One of the reasons that they’re going to be able to do that is because it’s not coming out until 2023,” he said. “This game is for sure now not coming out until 2023.”

This game will likely be shown during Star Wars Celebration, which Grubb also loosely mentioned in January by saying its reveal would come before E3 2022. It’s unclear if the celebration will contain more Star Wars games since Quantic Dream’s title is reportedly pretty far off, as is Skydance New Media’s. Ubisoft is also working on a Star Wars game and Respawn is developing (and helping develop) two other ones, too, (a first-person shooter and a strategy game) but the status on these games is currently unknown.
