Gun Interactive has explained a bit of how the killers will play in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, but now the team has released a more detailed guide breaking down their attributes and special abilities. And to coincide with the new information, Gun has put out trading cards based around all five family members, too.
As noted on the game’s website, the Slaughter family members each have three stats — savagery, harvesting, and endurance — and they can be further tweaked with the game’s perk system. Savagery is related to how much damage they deal. Harvesting is linked to the blood users can gather to feed to Grandpa, but this only applies to the blood drained from victims, not the blood found in buckers littered around the map. Endurance affects how stamina drains and recharges.
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, which is so players, according to Gun, try to work as a team to fill in their deficiencies. It is also possible to go solo, but Gun noted that that was harder to do.
The team then broke down each character. The Cook can listen for players to track down where they are and add additional locks to the map. He can remove them, too, and put them back in his inventory. The Cook can also close crawl spaces, meaning the other team has to open them, which will slow them down and potentially reveal their location. The Hitchhiker can place traps and will be alerted when someone steps in them. He’s also got high endurance and can following victims through tighter areas. Leatherface is, unsurprisingly, built around his chainsaw and can carve through opponents, doors, barricades, and crawl spaces.
Gun has detailed those three characters in the past, but also took this opportunity to finally dive into the game’s new killers. Johnny can track recent footsteps of players around the map and instantly bash through doors and crawl spaces. These attacks also have a concussive blast, which disorients nearby enemies.
Sissy is more nimble than the other family members. Not only can she go through small gaps and crawl spaces, but she can also hide and scare victims, too. Her unique ability lets her use poison in two ways: blowing it on survivors or contaminating items. However, it’s not clear what the poison actually does.
Gun did not release trailers or videos of these new characters in action. However, it did put out cards for each of them that explain their backstories and abilities. The studio also did the same for the victims in October.
