Netflix is seemingly going outside of the mobile platform for one of its upcoming games. A new jobs listing notes that the streamer is hiring for a AAA game on PC that seems like it will be a shooter of some sort.
As spotted by MobileGamer.biz, the post in question is vague, but is looking for a game director for an upcoming AAA PC game.
“We’re looking for a creative and highly-skilled Game Director to help us forge the game direction and creative vision on a brand-new AAA PC game,” says the listing. “As Game Director, you will be the creative leader of one of Netflix’s first generation of internally developed original games.”

This is notable in that Netflix has typically only released games on the mobile platform and this specifically calls out the PC. The other part of the listing sticks out because it states that “experience with FPS and/or third-person shooter games is preferred.” Many of the games that Netflix currently offers are relatively casual or aren’t based around action. The listing also says it will have “live operations” and that the ideal candidate will have “extensive experience” with making live service games. However, like the other games on Netflix’s platform, it will seemingly not have microtransactions as the listing notes that this director would be able to “create, ship, and run a game without any competing design constraints due to monetization”
It also seems as though Netflix would potentially be looking to put this world into a film or TV series. The job post is asking for candidates that will be able to make characters and a narrative that are “worthy of a Netflix film/TV series.” This director would also have to “help with expansion of the IP into other media.”
This studio behind this listing is likely the same new team being led by Chacko Sonny, who left Blizzard Entertainment in September 2021. He was lauded as a “stabilizing force” according to Bloomberg’s anonymous sources and Netflix VP of Gaming Mike Verdu praised Sonny’s decision to work with the streaming giant.

Netflix has been making big moves in the gaming space as of late. It acquired Oxenfree developer Night School and mobile game studios Boss Fight Entertainment and Next Games, while also opening up new teams in Finland and California, the latter of which is Sonny’s studio.
