Here’s The Pitt Season 2 Release Date, According to Show Producers

If you’re looking for The Pitt Season 2 release date, the show’s producers have something to say about it. With the critical success of the realistic medical drama, Max swiftly renewed The Pitt for a second season on February 14, 2025, which was just after the sixth episode of its 15-episode run. Set in the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center and starring Noah Wyle as Dr. Robby, this highly accurate portrayal of ER doctors has fans clamoring for another season. Here’s what we know about when the next season of The Pitt is expected to drop.

What is the expected release date for The Pitt Season 2?

The Pitt Season 2 is expected to release in January 2026, based on an interview with the show’s executive producer R. Scott Gemmill.

Speaking with The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Gemmill says that while he has not gotten an official air date for the second season of the show, he assumes that it will be “in January again, and [Max have] told us they would like us to be.”

Gemmill, along with executive producer John Wells, expects filming for The Pitt Season 2 to begin in the middle of June. The first season of the show was 15 episodes, with each one taking up one hour of a hectic 15-hour day shift in a trauma hospital, so the second season will likely have a similar format.

The estimated January 2026 release date for the second season would not stray to far from the production schedule for the first season. Max first gave an order for the 15-episode season in late March 2024 with production starting a few months later in July. The first two episodes of Season 1 then premiered on the network on January 9, 2025.

It’s unclear what the storylines will be for the next season of The Pitt. Given the shooter in season one, we’re not even sure which cast members will make it through the finale yet. That said, Gemmill said that he will consider other hospital professions, like respiratory therapists, to be represented in some way for Season 2.
