Jinbe One Piece

One Piece: When Did Jinbe Join the Straw Hat Crew?

When did Jinbe join the Straw Hat crew in One Piece? Compared to the other people, he’s actually one of the newest members to join Luffy’s crew. Here is a guide on when Jinbe joined the Straw Hat Pirates.

What episode did Jinbe join the Straw Hat crew in One Piece?

Jinbe officially calls himself a member of the Straw Hat Pirates in episode 980 of the anime. However, Luffy already acknowledged himself to be Jinbe’s captain as far back as episode 876. Jinbe temporarily left them to protect his former crew, the Sun Pirates, against Big Mom’s fleet. Luffy then said they would meet again in Wano.

Before Jinbe officially joined, Luffy had already invited him to join the crew after the events that happened at Fish-Man Island. However, he declined because he had prior commitments to attend to and he wanted to cut his ties with Big Mom first before joining them.

After he sorted those things out, he officially joined the crew during the Wano Country arc. He is the Straw Hat Pirates’ helmsman. This makes him the tenth member of the crew.

Jinbe Devil Fruit in One Piece

Jinbe did not eat a Devil Fruit and therefore he doesn’t have any Devil Fruit powers or abilities.

Despite this, he is still one of the strongest members of the crew. His level is at par with the Monster Trio (Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji). He is an expert in Fish-Man Karate and Fish-Man Jujutsu. His fighting skills are greatly recognized by other pirates and other incredibly strong characters in the series. For example, even CP0 recognizes that Jinbe is a skilled and strong fighter.

Jinbe is also very durable and possesses incredible strength. He can withstand strong attacks. He took on Akainu’s magma attack and barely reacted to it. He’s also fast, both on land and in water.
